Rasica, Marko, Croatian painter (Dubrovnik, November 13, 1883 – Koločep, January 27, 1963). He studied at the Academy in Vienna in 1903–07. Worked as a teacher in Zagreb at the Vocational School 1917–32. and in the Higher Vocational School 1936–45. At first he painted in the spirit of academic realism, then in Vienna he accepted the Art Nouveau art expression (Per aspera ad astra, 1912), and in Prague the divisionism of V. Bukovac (pine trees, 1914). On large sacred compositions, he was inclined to decorative, folklore and monumental expression (fresco St. Francis preaches to the fish, in the church of St. Francis in Zagreb, 1920). Motives from Dubrovnik and Krk he worked in watercolour, the vibrant and airy atmosphere of the Mediterranean climate (Street in Dubrovnik, Villa with cypresses, Šilo Port on Krk). He made woodcuts and reliefs in metal, os. silver (St. Blaise), he was engaged in art restoration and scenography (I. Vojnović, equinox, 1902).
