Description

Smiljan Vicenco Popović (Stunned, 9. May 1939. - destination, 3. August 2019.) Croatian academic painter, restaurateur i conservator.

He graduated from the School of Applied Arts in Sarajevo in 1962, and the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade 1966. From 1966 to 1969, he worked on the restoration and conservation of frescoes and icons, and until of the Homeland War he worked as the director of the BiH Art Gallery. He has exhibited his works since 1962 at numerous individual and group exhibitions in the country and abroad. He is the winner of several awards and recognitions.

He is known to the general public as a prominent portraitist of many well-known figures of public life. During the visit Pope John Paul II. Đakovo On June 7, 2003, he made a portrait of the Pope, which is now in the Archbishop's House in Đakovo, and his other portrait, made in the same year, is in VaticanThere is a sculpture of him in the park of the Gymnasium in Metković A form of retrievability.[4] He lived and worked in Zagreb.
